Mercy Relief May Day Newspaper Collection Drive (1 May 09)
Venue: Bishan
Details: The Newspaper Collection Drive is a fund raising event for Mercy Relief. Mercy Relief is an independent charitable Non-Governmental Humanitarian Organisation aimed at alleviating poverty as a result of natural or man-made disasters, poverty and disadvantage. Programmes implemented by Mercy Relief are situated within Asia, with greater emphasis on China. The proceeds from this Newspaper Collection Drive will go towards helping Mercy Relief to reduce the dire living conditions of countless of families within the region.

The two time slots are 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 7pm respectively.
And I think nobody will want to join the second group.

Student Helpers for University Talk for Parents on 25 Apri (Sat) 9am-12pm (25 Apr 09)Venue: AJC AuditoriumDetails: The college is looking for 35 student volunteers to help out on 25 Apr for the University Talk for Parents. Duties include ushering, giving out of materials, carpark etc. CIP hours will be given. The Hello Campaign.
Venue: Tentage outside Singapura Plaza (near Dhoby Ghaut MRT)
Details: Volunteers will walk down Orchard road and 'Hello' and start conversation with strangers, encourage these people to support the "Hello Campaign" by registering on the Hello website and encourage them to wear the 'Hello" tag the rest of the day and say hello to others. Volunteers are report at 11.30 for a briefing. The actual 'work' starts at 12 and should end at 4 pm

Envirofest 2009.
Venue: Toa Payoh HDB Hub
Time/Duration: 10am - 8pm
Details: Guest of Honour: Assoc Prof Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources. Student participant: Exhibition guides - Student guides are to bring the public on the various trails of this exhibition. They will be handling people ranging from young kids to senior citizens. They will be trained and equipped with knowledge of various non-profit organizations so as to share it with the public. Student reporters and bloggers will be helping to do write-ups about the planning process of Envirofest. They will be publishing blog entries on Envirofest offical blog. Reporters will need to produce feature stories revolving around Envirofest to be sent as media press kit. Benefits for students: 1)CIP hours for students' commitment. 2)Students will received training on guiding and improve their public speaking. Training schedules will be made later but the venue is likely to be in Botanical Gardens.

30 Hours Famine Camp.
Venue: ACS (Barker Road)
Details: Open to students 15-18 years old, campers will go on a 30-hour food fast as a symbolic gesture against global hunger. Through presentations, role play and simulation activities, campers will engage their hearts and minds in sessions that will enlighten them about the challenges of poverty, HIV/AIDS and the global food crisis exacerbated by the current economic crisis.
