Speak EZ
Hello Matar. As requested I will post the information of the Speak EZ presentation. Please remember to prepare your speech and we'll be following the register. If time allows, we will continue with the presentation to complete as many people as possible. The presentation ranges from 1.5 minutes to 2 minutesSample Speech Outline A. Openinga. Captures audience attentionb. Leads into speech topicB. Bodya. First pointi. statement of factii. supporting materialb. Second point
i. statement of fact
ii. supporting material(...so on...)C. Conclusiona. Review or summaryCall to action or memorable statementThere should be an opening, body and conclusion. The speech body should contain at least three main points. Each point should be clearly stated, illustrated and supported. Act as though your audience is not at all familiar with the topic; don't assume they know anything. Arrange your points in logical order. How to make your "butterflies" fly in formationNervousness, speech anxiety, stage fright- it's known by many names, but it's a problem every speaker must confront. Here's how you can make your butterflies fly in formation:1. Know the room. Become familiar with the place where you will speak. Stand at the area where you will be speaking. If you'll be using visual aids, practice with them. Walk from the area where you'll be seated to the front, as you will when you are introduced. 2. Know the audience. Get to know your classmates. It is easier to speak to a group of friends than to a group of strangers.3. Know your material. If you are not familiar with your material, your nervousness naturally will increase. Practice your speech and revise it until you can present it with ease. Write your speech in large letters, clearly and neatly, onto cards or a piece of paper.4. Relax. Do relaxation exercises. Breathe in slowly, hold your breath, and breathe out. 5. Visualise yourself giving your speech. Imagine yourself waking confidently to the front as the audience applauds. Imagine yourself speaking, your voice loud, clear and assured. When you visualise yourself as successful, you will be successful.6. Realise that people want you to succeed. Audiences want speakers to be interesting, stimulating, informative and entertaining. They want you to succeed- not fail. Your audience will be understanding and supportive.7. Don't apologise. Most of the time your nervousness doesn't show at all. If you don't say anything about is, nobody will notice. If you mention your nervousness or apologise for any problems you think you have in your speech, you'll only be calling the audience's attention to it.8. Gain experience. Experience builds confidence, which is a key to effective speaking. Most beginning speakers find that their anxieties decrease after each speech they give. 9. Take the feedback as areas in which you can continue to strengthen or improve.I'll be giving everyone a handout of this sheet of note on Tuesday. The first session will commence on Wednesday during our long GP lesson. This may also mean that we may not get our GP results back anytime soon...unless we all fail... Tomorrow is the Family Day, runners please report at 0730 with the class. We have to report at LT 1 at 0825, our run scheduled at 0906, and end at 0915. This is just an approximation and usually it is not being followed. The runners are; WenSheng, Esther, YinMin, HoYee and GuoXian. Li Si will be the reserved for the run. Please bring both Pe attire and Family day shirt as we are still unsure of what to wear for the run. We will most probably wear the 25th Anniversary shirt. For everyone, please bring extra set of clothing as requested by the Council.A final note, I realise less people visit the blog regularly, and less people tag on the tagboard. Please keep the class spirit high, have a good rest, don't be too stress up by the PW. A little thought. What is morality? How do you define morality??? Who is moral or who is not? What basis do you consider on? Think about Oskar Schindler, a womanizer, a war profiteer, nobody expected him to save 1100 Jews, but he did. "You have a right to kill me, but you have no right to call me a murderer."- KurtzRest early and enjoy life, the beauty of nature. .WeS.
